I get it, the market’s tough. Especially in areas like web design where there are all the ‘free’ tools which tell clients that they can do this stuff themselves. (Case in point, someone booked a call with me asking for support with the free website they’d built in MailChimp 😬).

This doesn’t mean there’s not enough work out there – there really is enough for everyone. And, trust me, you don’t want to work with someone who doesn’t value their online presence enough to pay more than a tiny monthly fee for.

When the market’s tough people panic. It’s like this mountain of people all trying to climb over each other in the bid to reach the top and be chosen. Not just in web design, but all the areas that impact it. Want an example? Just look at when I’ve put shoutout posts on LinkedIn asking for recommendations for a photographer, a branding specialist and a Meta ads specialist.

In times like these you’ll hear people, thinking they’re being helpful, saying ‘you need to underpromise and overdeliver’

No.

Just no.

No again.

You should be doing a great job, with happy clients and a waiting list of people wanting to work with you. This should be because you know your stuff, you’re consistent and you deliver both, great websites and a great customer experience.

People should know exactly what they’re going to get when they work with you and they should choose to work with you because of that.

And you should, quite rightly be shouting about your excellent websites and excellent customer service from the rooftops.

No quietly whispering an undersell and hoping you’ll still get hired. The market’s too competitive for that.

No overdelivering on the amazing websites and customer service you already offer – therein burnout lies.

Just 100% brilliant you, being brilliantly consistent every time.

If you’re a website developer or designer who’s not sure that what you’re delivering is completely aligned with you and your clients. Or haven’t yet found your confidence to really nail your messaging and deliver consistently good websites time and again, my Phoenix Programme could be the right fit for you.

Book a free, 20 minute call with me, tell me where you’re at and if I think we’d be a good working fit, I’ll give you more information on the programme.
